The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is one of the most elegant city stays I’ve experienced. Set across six 17th- and 18th-century canal palaces on the iconic Herengracht, the hotel feels both grand and deeply peaceful - tucked away from the busier parts of the city but still right in the heart of everything.
The interiors are refined and serene, mixing historic Dutch charm with understated luxury. My room overlooked the canal and was beautifully designed with soft tones, high ceilings, and a huge marble bathroom that felt spa-like in itself. The beds are like clouds - genuinely hard to leave.
The spa was a highlight. The Guerlain Spa is intimate and beautifully designed, and I had one of the best facials I’ve ever had here - totally relaxing and incredibly effective. The pool is small but calming, and the whole space feels like a hidden sanctuary, which is rare to find in the middle of a city.
Service was exactly what you'd expect from a Waldorf - polished and warm, but never overbearing. Everything was handled smoothly, from restaurant bookings to last-minute changes, and the team made the stay feel personal and thoughtful.
The dining is exceptional too. Peacock Alley is perfect for a light lunch or classic afternoon tea, and Spectrum - their fine dining restaurant - is a real experience for anyone into creative, beautifully presented cuisine.
The location is ideal for exploring - just a short walk from museums, boutiques, and canal-side cafés, but the hotel’s private garden makes it feel like a retreat from the city when you want some calm.
In short, if you want luxury, tranquility, and standout service in Amsterdam, Waldorf Astoria delivers. It’s a perfect base for a romantic getaway or an indulgent city break - and that facial alone is worth booking in for.
